Brand refreshes and rebrands can be just as much fun as branding projects. Especially when you were the one to do the original logo, you know the business and the values are the same but the business has outgrown the old name. New name and a rebrand can do a lot for your business.

What is a rebrand?
This is where your vision, mission, values, and visuals don’t align with your business anymore. This is when a brand strategy session is suggested to help define those and realign your business. Sometimes this is due to a merger of businesses, changes within society, changes within your business or something else.

What is a refresh?
I believe there are two different kinds of refreshes after this year. There is one where your business is changing from one person to multiple but your brand vision, mission and values are still the same. Which means your visuals might be very similar because they still align with your business, for example: you might want the same color palette and fonts with a new name.

The other version of a refresh is: the same logo but redone so that you can have high resolution graphics for more things. I’ve had a client this year that needed/wanted the same logo, the exact same logo but needed higher resolutions and a transparent background. They didn’t have the original files but they had basic information that I could use to rebuild the logo. They were able to provide the font and colors that still needed to be in the logo. This is also a refresh and a great way to go if your tight on your budget.

Issue that needed to be solved: Business had grown from one person to multiple and the name didn’t fit but the values and mission were the same.

Hilary started out working on her own as a psychotherapist with her name as her business name. Once she started adding more psychotherapists to her practice, she knew she needed a name change and a brand refresh. She was still in love with her original logo so I did my best to carry over colors and similar features from the original. Luckily, I created the original logo so I could dive back into my files. I ended up slightly tweaking the color palette to a tad brighter feel. Then I found a typeface that had a more rounded, modern, and welcoming feel to it.
