Why you need a website

Hey! Looks like you’re on my website, did you check it out? What were you able to find out about my business?

Are you someone that run their business off of social media or something like Etsy with no website with no true website established online?

Well I’m here to help! A website is important for your business to have. I like to tell clients that it’s like having a sales person work for you but for FREE. Yes you need to pay for your domain, the platform and a web designer to get you there but afterwards… it’s like you hired a sales person for your business.

But why?

Having a presence online is HUGE these days right? Have you ever gone to a restaurant and all the sudden they are closed the day you go? All they do is post a note on the door that they are sick or that their small business is on vacation from this date to this date.

Wouldn’t it have been great if they had that notice on their website?

But I can post it on my social media business account.

Well what if that person isn’t on social media? What if your post got lost in the millions of other posts on their feed?

Here’s when your business’s website comes into action.

Having a website give your customers or clients the information that they need. Your website can tell people:

  • Who you are

  • What you do

  • When your open

  • How you do business

  • Testimonials from previous and current clients

It can tell people A LOT about your business.

A few other reasons to have a website

Established presence online

Inviting people to take time to cruise your site. You want people to land on your website and spend time on there. The more time they spend and the better the impression they get, the more likely you’ll get their business. Or they will at least remember you down the road.

SEO Ranking (Search Engine Optimization)

This one is HUGE. HUGE and a heavy one to unpack. SEO can bring in organic traffic to your business. Google pulls the sites that have the best information to the top when someone searches for specific keywords. High quality content is what Google is looking for when they pull your site to the top. Basically, when someone types in a specific phrase ‘Gluten Free food in Denver, Colorado’, Google organizes it to pull from the keywords hidden in your website to pull it to the front of the line for what that person specifically searched for.

Cool right?

Credibility

This goes way back before branding was a thing. Before websites were a thing. People only trusted certain businesses by word of mouth (aka a referral).

Now Businesses can show they are safe and trustworthy with a website. This is a good place to be consistent with your brand, cut to the chase (what do you do), showcase your expertise and testimonials. You want to eliminate BS like ads, pop ups, other jargon that people don’t care to see or sign up for.

Things that support credibility now:

  • Good branding

  • Social media presence

  • Up to date website

  • Links to articles you’ve been in, awards, speaking events, podcasts, etc

  • Press mentions

  • Testimonials

  • Simple content

  • and so much more

Generate Leads

If you’re still not sold on having a website. Let me tell you this…

All my clients have come from word of mouth referrals, UpWork, or networking events.

They all ended up on my WEBSITE, filling out my contact form, and then working with me.

None of my clients are from social media.

Shocking right? I have designer friends that are getting tons of people from social media. Which is AWESOME.

But as a working mom, I don’t have as much time to sit on social media all day posting my content, or my work with me, or updating every step of a project with followers.

Let me know how I can help you or if you have questions! My email is always open for discussion or if you want to hear more about why you need a website and how it will help you.
